VanderMyde Design is a small design firm on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Originally started with John & Philip VanderMyde AIA,
Philip has had to leave active practice due to health issues.

John now specializes in "Old Nags Head Style", 
"Coastguard Style", and the traditional "Manteo Way of Building" which 
includes "Foursquare", "Craftsman", and similar early 20th century styles.

John is also in the process of developing "stock plans" for sale,
the first of which will be based on a small bungalow in the Craftsman Style.

John is part of the new movement towards all "3D" design, where your house or 
addition is modeled in three dimensions rather than drawn in two.  Once clients are able
to "see" their house as it will be, rather than try to imagine it from a floor plan, design 
decisions become much easier to communicate between builder, designer, and client.
