About VanderMyde Design
|
John VanderMyde and his dad, Philip VanderMyde, created VanderMyde Design to pick up where Philip's firm, Additions Inc. left off after Philip's retirement from active practice. John handles most client contact and all design work, while Philip still keeps a hand in things by reviewing John's drawings and providing his Architect's stamp when needed. John works anywhere he can plug in his laptop, but you will generally find him in one of two locations, his Dad's office in Southern Shores at 261 N. Dogwood Trail, or, when he really has a lot of work, at his design studio in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, in a little town called Headwaters in Highland County (take a look at the pictures on our "Cottages" page) Philip's retirement comes after 40 years of practicing Architecture, designing dozens of buildings all around the country and hundreds of homes & additions in the Washington DC area. He moved to the Outer Banks in 2000, and lives in Southern Shores with his wife Terry. John moved to the Outer Banks soon after graduating from The University of Virginia in 1992. He went on to have a successful career in real estate, first at Beach Realty, then RE/MAX, before turning the business over to his wife Heather so he could pursue design and construction. He earned his General Contractor license in 2001, and designed and built several homes before deciding that design is all he really wants to do. He now resides in Duck with his wife Heather. to contact us, please email JohnVanderMyde@gmail.com |
