This is Heather & John's Mountain House, located in Headwaters Virginia, about 40 minutes west of Staunton in Highland County.
As you can see, you have to drive through a creek / stream / river, Shaw's Fork, to get to the house.
We knew we were going to buy the house the minute we stepped inside - the entire interior is wood, most of which was reclaimed from nearby barns & farmhouses.
It was built by associates of Elizabeth Cubler Ross ( the author & researcher who wrote about the five stages of grief ) , who established a convalescent home nearby in the early 80s.
