Tarvalier Tip Sheet

Electronics:

Problems with Wireless Internet?
Turn off power to router (Linksys), wait 15 seconds, turn back on... and your computer should see the "duckview" network.  No password needed.

TVs: All TVs in the House are Samsungs except for the two projection Sonys, so the remotes will work on all if you misplace one.

If any TV will not come on, try unplugging it and waiting 30 seconds, then plugging back in.

The two Sony big screen TVs have multiple inputs - if you see static, try hitting the "TV / Video" button on the remote to cycle through the available inputs.

Sometimes the channel gets changed away from the needed "Channel 4" for the cable input - make sure the TVs are set to Channel 4.

Both Sonys have inputs on a pop out on the left hand side, below the screen; use these for plugging in your own game or video console.

Appliances:

Downstairs Icemaker - please make sure the door is shut completely!  If left open at all, it will ice up and become unusable. I recommend dumping all the ice in a cooler when you get to the house, and let the machine make a new fresh batch.  If machine ices up, please unplug it and let it melt, then plug it back in.

Washer & Dryer - for some reason the knobs keep breaking off on these - please be careful!

Hot Water - the house is served by a Whole House Instant Hot Water Heater - it can handle two showers at once, but if you are filling a tub with hot water and doing laundry at the same time, it might exceed the capacity of the heater.  You will never run out of hot water though - simply turn off one of the outlets if the water becomes too cool.

In the unlikely even that a breaker is tripped, there are two panels with circuit breakers for the hot water heater - one is in the garage, but the other sub panel is in the laundry closet.  Please check both before calling!

Lights:

PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL EXTERIOR LIGHTS ARE OFF WHEN YOU ARE INSIDE!!!  We want to be good neighbors, and there's nothing worse than having a spotlight shine though our neighbor's bedroom windows, or ruin stargazing for the other houses.

There should be spare bulbs for most interior lights in the kitchen closet.
